Determination

"To The Top"

Time is holding me back from the goals I pursue.
I am moving along, but the course is untrue.
It has always been clear where I think I should go,
but the progress I make is depressingly slow.
I am rowing a boat on a river upstream.
I am fighting the flow. Things are not as they seem.
What I sought at the start, now is not quite the same.
I have had to adjust and re-focus my aim.
But the point of this fight is I'm closer today
to achieving my dreams than I was yesterday.
It may not come with ease. It may not come with speed,
but with patience and work I will get what I need.
At the end I will not say I tried and I failed.
I will say I pressed on, and I finally prevailed.
For the trials of life are not far in between.
They flare up in a flash and are seldom foreseen.
Our success all depends on our strength to endure.
To hang on through the storm 'till it's safe and secure.
When in life it seems you're at the end of your rope
climb your way to the top and don't ever lose hope.
