Gratitude
"What I Really Want to Say?"
by Wes Fessler
I have to tell you now the things I could not tell you then.
I have to let you know before I lose my chance again.
You mean so much to me, but I can never show you how.
I wish that I could give you all my gratitude somehow.
You always cared for me, though I was not always so good.
And when I said "I can't," you always told me that I could.
You never quit on me though I would quit all on my own.
You stood there by my side when I thought I was all alone.
You showed me there was hope and in the positive a way.
You taught me to be strong in case you had to be away.
But now that you are gone, I feel I need to learn much more.
How can I give to you all that you gave to me before?
I owe you everything, a debt I never can repay.
I love you, I guess that is all I really want to say.
