Love
"You and I"
by Wes Fessler
Can you take this? Can you make this bitter tragedy,
something better, that will let a real hope live for me?
Nothing going. Nothing knowing. What am I to do?
All I try, to fall and die, no way to see it through.
Heading backwards, can't retract words, when all's said and done.
Never learning, falling burning, looking for someone.
There you were, it seemed so sure, no horror of the past.
A guiding light, availing bright, to count upon at last.
Into the deep, we took the leap, into the great abyss
of tearing claws and deadly jaws, that rarely ever miss.
Our blood was drawn, as we went on, the pains grew sharp and sore.
But at your side, the raging tide was nothing like before.
At last we found, the solid ground. Securely we stood tall.
On diamond sands, we filled our hands then rose above it all.
Would not believe. Could not conceive, ever long ago,
that life could be so good for me, but with you it is so.
Never slowing, always growing, we are climbing high.
Moving forward, every reward waits for you and I.
