"It's Perfect Now With You"
by Wes Fessler
The first sound of the morning, sends me running in the dark,
to shower and race to work on time, so that the boss won't bark.
The tasks of morning hours seem so trivial to me,
but somehow I get caught in them from six o'clock 'till three.
Then rushing to the car to make it just in time for school;
if somebody were watching me, they'd take me for a fool.
The night hours spent dozing off, right up on the front row,
my squinted eyes make certainthat my grades will end up low.
A cold drink and an aspirin gets me home with reddened eyes,
to homework due the next day, what a wonderful surprise!
Halfway into the reading my head falls into the books,
and I notice how inviting, warm, and cozy the bed looks.
Collapsing to the mattress, as my day is finally through;
as restless as the day has been, it's perfect now with you.
