"Extraordinary Oven BBQ Ribs"

If your mouth is not watering yet, you most likely have not tasted these "Extraordinary Oven BBQ Ribs." These ribs are marinated and slowly cooked to perfection. A Family Fun Shop original barbeque sauce is applied toward the end of cooking in layers which gives these ribs a savory taste that rivals that of a smokehouse.

You can make these ribs regardless of the weather. There is no need for a grill or smoky fire. They can be cooked in your oven at any time of year.

Extraordinary Oven BBQ Ribs

This recipe is for 5 lbs of ribs. We used Bone In Beef Back Ribs, but other ribs may also be used with this recipe.

Marinade Recipe

1/4 Cup Butter
1/4 Cup Vinegar
1/4 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 tsp Soy Sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1/4 tsp Paprika
Pinch of Thyme

Directions for Marinade

Pre-heat oven to 260 degrees fahrenheit.

Prepare the marinade in a mixing bowl by adding all of the above ingredients.

Line two 9 x 13 inch pans with aluminum foil.

Set ribs into both pans. Cut into sections to fit pan if necessary.

Pour or brush marinade over all rib surfaces. Cover meat during
marinating with plastic wrap. For best results return meat to
refrigerator during marinating. Allow meat to stand in marinade for
30 minutes.

Barbeque Sauce Recipe

1 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Tomato Paste
1/4 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Vinegar
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp Corn Syrup
1 Tbsp Molasses
1 Tbsp Worchestershire Sauce
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Honey
3/4 tsp Soy Sauce

Directions for Barbeque Sauce

Mix all ingredients together well with a power mixer.

Heat mixture in a saucepan at medium heat for 15 minutes stirring
occasionally.

Barbeque sauce will be applied toward the end of cooking as
specified in the cooking directions below.

Cooking Directions (approximate total cooking time = 2 hours 15 minutes)

After marinating for 30 minutes, remove plastic wrap covering from
pans and place ribs in oven at 260 degrees fahrenheit with the
meatiest side up.

After 1 hour of cooking, flip ribs so that the meaty side is down.

After 30 additional minutes do the following:
- Apply Barbeque Sauce on the bony side
- Flip ribs so that meaty side is up.
- Increase oven temperature to 350 degrees.

After 15 more minutes, while cooking at 350 degrees fahrenheit,
apply a first layer of barbeque sauce to the meaty side.

After 15 additional minutes, apply a second layer of barbeque sauce
to the meaty side.

After a total cooking time of 2 hours 15 minutes elapsed, check
center of meat with a meat thermometer. Temperature should be at
least 150 degrees fahrenheit. If temperature is 150 degrees
fahrenheit or above at the center of the meat, remove the meat
from the oven. If the temperature of the meat is below 150 degrees
fahrenheit, continue cooking until 150 degrees fahrenheit is
achieved.
